| Esdevium Games Joins Forces with Asmodee

Alton, Hampshire--Esdevium Games, Ltd., the UK’s largest games distributor, and Asmodee S.A.S., the games distributor and publisher with operations in France, Spain, Germany, Benelux and North America, are pleased to announce that Asmodee have acquired a majority stake in Esdevium. The move is based on the latter company’s strong growth over the past several years and facilitated by an historically close relationship between the companies. The move is seen as a good fit by both companies, based on extensive experience working together for a number of years. Esdevium is the exclusive UK distributor for Asmodee’s portfolio of specialty games, and shares a large number of key suppliers, among other collaborations. No changes are planned for Esdevium’s management or operations. “Our agreement ensures that the entire Esdevium management team will remain in place for many years to come,” said Daniel Steel, Managing Director of Esdevium Games. “We will continue with business as usual, but with the benefit of even greater resources and wider horizons.” Asmodee Group Managing Director Pierre Gaubil elaborated: “With games distribution and publication operations in Germany, Spain, Belgium, and North America, as well as our native France and now the UK, Asmodee will consolidate its European coverage. We believe that we can serve our European customers better, and offer our suppliers a one-stop distribution solution for Europe. With the number of yo-yo champions showing up at Toy Fair, one could be forgiven for thinking it was the site of the European Championship. But no, that’s the following weekend (30–31 January) in Prague. What’s bringing all these great players to Toy Fair? | World Record YoYo Attempt at London Toy Fair

How many yo-yos do you think could be put into action by one person at one time? Four? Six? Believe it or not, the current world record is nine! At 11:30 on Tuesday, 26 January, on the Esdevium Games stand at London Toy Fair, Ben McPhee will attempt to smash that record, spinning as many as 12 yo-yos at one time. “2010 looks like it’s going to be the year of the yo-yo here in the UK,” Ben said, “so it seemed like a good idea to start the year off with a real yo-yo challenge. Pushing the limits. New tricks, new styles of play, innovative yoyo design. That's what gives me passion for the sport.” |
