Morning and Lucca Comics and Games have proudly announced that Kill the Unicorns has won the Gioco dell’Anno award.

The annual Italian prize, meaning Game of the Year, has previously honoured hits including Flamme Rouge and Kingdomino and now lavishes its praise on the hilarious card game that challenges players aged 10 and up to become the greatest unicorn hunter in the land.

Kill the Unicorns began life on Kickstarter, when its accessible and fun gameplay, offbeat theme and eye-catching artwork helped it to rally more than 8,000 backers in 2017. Since then, the game has been translated into eight languages and distributed in over 30 countries.

Each of Kill the Unicorns’ 141 cards features distinctive artwork from Levi Prewitt, and its signature ‘pigicorn’ character is also available as a plush. The Gioco dell’Anno is the game’s first major award.
